I am a member of the American Bladesmith Society and hold the rating of Master Smith. I have been making knives since the late nineteen-nineties. The primary steels I use are 1084 and 5160, and I also forge my own multi-layered patterned steel. All my knives are hand-forged so no two will be identical. I feel strongly about being the sole author of my blades and do all of my own work including sheaths.
My work is warranted for as long as I am able to make knives. The warranty covers any failure except that caused by abuse and normal wear. Due to the nature of the material, I am also unable to warranty natural handle materials.
Each knife starts from a billet of steel, either straight high-carbon steel or multi-layered patterned (Damascus) steel. The steel is heated in a forge and hand-hammered to the shape of the blade over several heats. The shape of the blade is then refined on a grinder. From this point on, all work is accomplished by hand, including sanding and polishing to either a mirror or satin finish. Each blade goes through many steps of heat-treatment, delivering a blade that has a hard edge and a soft back. The result is a blade that will take and hold a sharp edge, but will also hold up to stress. The guards on my knives are made from a variety of materials, including nickel silver, stainless steel and copper. Most of my handles are made of natural materials, generally either exotic wood or horn.
All knives are sold with a custom fitted sheath, and shipping costs are a flat rate of $20.00 for shipping within the USA.
